Hyde Park Padel Courts — How to Book, Prices & What to Expect

26 April 2026

Hyde Park has one outdoor floodlit padel court in the heart of central London — one of the most sought-after and scenically unique courts in the city. Court hire runs from £35 to £51 per hour depending on peak and off-peak times. Bookings open 7 days ahead at 7am daily. No membership required. The catch: one court, enormous demand, and a booking system that moved from Park Sports to The Royal Parks in February 2026. Here's everything you need to get a slot.

The basics

Address: South Carriage Drive, Hyde Park, London W2 2UH (South-west corner of Hyde Park, where the park meets Exhibition Road, south of The Serpentine)

Transport: Multiple options — Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly Line), Knightsbridge (Piccadilly Line), or South Kensington (District, Circle, Piccadilly). All are within 10 minutes walk.

Courts: 1 outdoor floodlit padel court. Full-size, year-round.

Booking platform: The Royal Parks booking system at sportsandleisure.royalparks.org.uk — important note below.

Opening hours: 7am–9pm daily (check current hours as they vary seasonally and with the 2026 works programme)

No membership required — anyone can book.

Important: the booking system changed in February 2026

From 1 February 2026, The Royal Parks took over delivery of sports and leisure facilities at Hyde Park, The Regent's Park, and Greenwich Park, replacing the previous Park Sports operation. Due to the transition, Park Sports credits could not be carried over after 31 January 2026.

This means Hyde Park padel now books via sportsandleisure.royalparks.org.uk — not via parksports.co.uk, which previously handled bookings. If you have an old Park Sports account, you need a new Royal Parks account to book. The booking logic (7 days ahead, 7am release) remains the same.

Also worth knowing: from February 2026, improvement works began at the pavilion buildings in Hyde Park and The Regent's Park. Outdoor sports facilities remain open and accessible throughout, but the pavilion buildings (including changing rooms and the café) were closed until April 2026, with temporary facilities in place during this period. Check the Royal Parks website for the current status of facilities before your visit.

Prices

Court hire at Hyde Park runs from £35 to £51 per hour. The exact price depends on peak vs off-peak times and whether floodlights are in use — floodlight costs are included in the listed price rather than added separately.

Split between four players:

  • Off-peak: approximately £8.75 per person
  • Peak: approximately £12.75 per person

This makes Hyde Park one of the better-value padel options in central London — significantly cheaper than Padium (£20/person) or Rocket Padel Battersea (£17.50–22.50/person), and with a setting neither of those can match.

Racket hire: Padel racket hire is £5 per player at Hyde Park, available when you arrive. You need a photo ID which is held at reception while you play. Padel balls are not available for hire but can be purchased at the venue.

How to book

The booking process since February 2026:

  1. Go to sportsandleisure.royalparks.org.uk and create a free account
  2. Navigate to Hyde Park → Padel
  3. Use the availability timetable to find an open slot
  4. Book up to seven days in advance — one booking per day — with new availability released daily at 7am
  5. Pay by card at booking — the venue is cashless only

The 7am release rule: Peak slots (evenings and weekends) go fast. Set an alarm for 6:55am, have the Royal Parks site open and logged in, and book the moment the slot appears. Being a few minutes late for peak slots on a Saturday morning means you'll miss them.

The Padel Booking Card: Previously, a Padel Booking Cardholder scheme allowed 10-day advance booking instead of 7 days. New customers can no longer purchase these cards due to very high demand. Existing cardholders at these venues can currently renew their cards. If you have an existing card, renewing it retains a genuine advantage for peak slot access.

What makes Hyde Park padel different

Every other London padel venue is in a building, warehouse, or leisure centre. Hyde Park is in a Royal Park, next to The Serpentine, with the Albert Memorial visible from the court. It's outdoor, floodlit, and genuinely unlike anywhere else in the city.

This makes it both the most appealing padel setting in London and the most weather-dependent. Some things to know:

Wind affects play significantly. Hyde Park is exposed — a gusty day means the ball moves unpredictably off the walls, which is frustrating if you're used to the controlled conditions of an indoor venue. Check the wind forecast before booking peak outdoor time in autumn and winter.

Rain cancellations. Outdoor padel and heavy rain don't mix. The Royal Parks will let you know if conditions are unplayable — check the refund/cancellation policy when you book.

Summer is the best time. A warm evening game at Hyde Park with the park as your backdrop is one of the genuinely enjoyable sporting experiences in London. If you're going to try it once, aim for a summer evening slot.

Year-round play is possible. The court is floodlit so autumn and winter evening games work — the floodlight cost is included in the quoted price.

Regent's Park — the better option for availability

Hyde Park has one padel court. Regent's Park has two. If you're struggling to get a Hyde Park slot, Regent's Park has two floodlit padel courts with the same booking system, same pricing structure, and a similarly beautiful Royal Park setting. It's less central than Hyde Park but meaningfully easier to book for peak times simply because there are twice the courts.

The same Royal Parks account and booking process works for both. When Hyde Park is full, always check Regent's Park before giving up on the Royal Parks experience.

Coaching at Hyde Park

The Royal Parks runs a structured coaching programme at Hyde Park padel courts:

Weekly Padel Classes — relaxed, sociable sessions for all levels from Beginner to Advanced. Run at various times including morning, afternoon, and evening slots. Include coffee mornings for socialising off court. Bookable individually via the Royal Parks website.

6-week Padel Courses — structured progression for Beginner, Improver, and Intermediate levels. Beginners learn positioning, technique, and gameplay. Improvers build on existing skills. Intermediate players focus on tactics, teamwork, and consistency.

Private Coaching — one-to-one or small groups of up to three. LTA-qualified and experienced padel coaches. Bookable via the Royal Parks site.

Junior Courses — for ages 10–16. Coaches supply equipment. Term-time, structured by age and ability.

Weekly Padel Drills — for players who want to improve faster than casual play allows. Focused skill sessions in an informal setting.

The Royal Parks vs Park Sports — what changed

For players who used the venue before 2026, the main practical changes from the February handover are:

  • New booking platform: Royal Parks system replaces Park Sports
  • New account required if you previously used a Park Sports account
  • Park Sports credits were not transferable
  • The Padel Booking Card scheme is closed to new customers
  • Pavilion buildings were closed for works February–April 2026 (outdoor courts remained open throughout)

The courts, coaching, and booking window (7 days, 7am release) are unchanged.

Who is Hyde Park padel right for?

Best for:

  • Central London players who want outdoor padel in a genuinely beautiful setting
  • Beginners or occasional players — the price point (£8.75–12.75/ person) is very reasonable for central London
  • Anyone wanting a memorable padel experience rather than just court time — the Royal Park setting is unique
  • Summer evening sessions specifically — this is when Hyde Park padel is at its absolute best

Less suited to:

  • Regular weekly players who need reliable slot access — one court with high demand makes consistency difficult
  • Players who want indoor conditions — wind and weather affect play significantly on an exposed outdoor court
  • Anyone who needs changing rooms during the pavilion works period (February–April 2026) — arrive ready to play

Frequently asked questions

How do I book the Hyde Park padel court?

Go to sportsandleisure.royalparks.org.uk, create a free account, and book under Hyde Park → Padel. The booking platform changed from Park Sports to The Royal Parks in February 2026 — if you have an old Park Sports account, you need a new Royal Parks account. Book up to 7 days in advance with new slots released daily at 7am.

How much does it cost to play padel at Hyde Park?

Court hire runs from £35 to £51 per hour depending on peak and off-peak times. Floodlight costs are included in the price. Split between four players this is approximately £8.75 to £12.75 per person — significantly cheaper than private padel clubs in central London.

How many padel courts are there at Hyde Park?

One outdoor floodlit padel court. This is why slots are competitive — with only one court and high central London demand, peak evening and weekend slots go very quickly after the 7am daily release.

What time do Hyde Park padel slots release?

New slots are released every day at 7am, 7 days ahead. Peak evening and weekend slots go fast — be logged into the Royal Parks booking system before 7am if you want popular times.

Can I hire a padel racket at Hyde Park?

Yes — padel racket hire is £5 per player. Bring a photo ID which is held at reception while you play. Padel balls are not available to hire but can be purchased at the venue.

Is Hyde Park padel indoor or outdoor?

Outdoor, with floodlighting for early morning and evening play. This means play is weather-dependent — wind affects ball behaviour significantly on an exposed Royal Park court. Summer evenings are the best conditions. A windy autumn day is the worst.

What is the difference between Hyde Park and Regent's Park padel?

Hyde Park has one padel court. Regent's Park has two, with the same booking system, same pricing structure, and a similarly beautiful Royal Park setting. Regent's Park is typically easier to book for peak times because there are twice as many courts. Both use the Royal Parks booking system at sportsandleisure.royalparks.org.uk.
